Computer Error RTHDCPL.EXE - ILLEGAL SYSTEM DLL RELOCATION?

It says - The system Dll user 32.dll was relocated in memory. Theapplication will not run properly. The relocation occurred because the dll C:\windows\system32\HHCTRL.OCX occupied an address change reserved for windows system Dlls. The vendor supplying the DLL should be contacted for a new DLL.

Can anyone tell me what is going on and also, what is a DLL?

I have a compaq and it is windows XP. This is a new PC, i just got at christmas time. I don't know what to think of this error. I have done a spyware check, and a anti virus and a Registery mechanic. I have also checked the windows update and that is all set. I am lost, and help please.

Thanks

After you install this security update on a Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2)-based computer, Realtek HD Audio Control Panel (Rthdcpl.exe) may not start. Additionally, you receive an error message that is similar to the

Reply:I had the exact same thing just happen to my computer yesterday. It was after I updated Microsoft. Is that when you got the message? I tried everything to fix it. Now I don't get that message but instead everytime I open a program it says "Windows Installer, preparing to install" Microsoft sucks.

This problem occurs when the following third-party applications are installed:

• Realtek HD Audio Control Panel

• ElsterFormular 2006/2007

• TUGZip

• CD-Tag

Reply:DLL is dynamic link library, if the error happens on an old machine and it is already been running well for awhile then i think it is great to check the hard disk for corrupted files which may cause some of the files to fail, otherwise perform a test on the memory as partial damage memory usually fails to load and execute file resulting in DLL failure.
Reply:I just got the same thng on mine, an ASUS. Its caused by the latest Microsoft update programs hogging memory (again). The DLL it's complaining about is the driver for your sound system. Go to the sound card (not compaq) web site and get the latest drivers.
